Music & ME

How Music Changed My Life

Music acts like a magic key, to which the most tightly closed heart opens.

Music holds a special place in my heart and is one of my greatest passions.

There are very few things in the world I hold dear the way I love my music.

Throughout my life, music has been there for me through the ups and downs, acting as a soundtrack to significant events. Each relationship I’ve had has its own associated songs, and whenever I hear those songs, they transport me back to those moments.

When I moved into my new apartment, I made sure to prioritize getting a Bluetooth sound system. With my Apple Music subscription and my trusty sound system, I am pretty much able to forget any problems even if for just a moment.

Everything seems easier when I add some music to the mix. For example, I can take walks for hours if I am listening to music.

My relationships

One of the remarkable things about music is its ability to soften my heart. As someone who can sometimes be tough and career-focused, the resilience that comes with it can make me emotionally guarded. Music gets me out of that mindset, breaks down those walls, and opens my heart.

I have a collection of songs that evoke the necessary emotions for me to be vulnerable in my relationships.

During my formative years, “The Story of My Life” by Don Williams held a special place in my heart. This song, along with other old classics, resonated deeply with me. Its lyrics spoke of the simplicity and purity of love, which was exactly what I desired in my own love story. Don Williams, with his repertoire of pure love songs, made it seem as though one’s life story revolved around finding and cherishing their one true love. As I grew older, I realized that love is more complex than that, but Don Williams’ lasting marriage of 57 years until his passing at 78 could be a testament to the enduring power of love.

“Here Without You” by Three Doors Down takes me back to my first relationship when I was navigating the challenges of early college life at 16.

“No Air” by Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown reminds me of my second relationship.

“Stand by You” by Rachel Platten brings back memories of my third relationship.

I appreciate music from all genres and eras, but country music holds a special place in my heart. Its lyrics speak to the romantic and idealistic 16-year-old girl within me, who believed that love could conquer all and make the world’s problems disappear. It’s a wonderful feeling to escape the demands of life and career, if only for a moment, through the enchantment of music.

Music serves as my companion during workouts, which I may not particularly enjoy but recognize as essential for maintaining good health.

Music provides a delightful backdrop while I tidy my house, making mundane tasks more enjoyable.

The exceptional power of music lies in its ability to transport me to different moments in my childhood, reminding me of the activities I loved and the people I cherished. Sometimes, I can vividly picture myself in those past moments, reliving the joy I felt when I first fell in love with a particular song.

As a Christian, music plays a crucial role in my worship. It helps me connect with God on a deeper level and express my faith.

Music has the power to transform me, allowing me to step into different realms of my life. I can switch personas and embrace different aspects of my identity simply by immersing myself in the melodies and rhythms.

“Kuchi Kuchi” by Jodie made me realize my desire to be a mother someday. The song’s portrayal of the love and responsibility that comes with motherhood shifted my perspective on life and ignited a longing within me.

In a world filled with noise and monotony, it’s easy to forget the things we truly love and cherish as we chase after everything else. However, with my $9 Apple Music subscription and my trusty home speaker, I have been able to relive and experience some of my most treasured and unforgettable moments.

So because music is an important part of my life, I will be sharing my favorite songs in this space called Music & me.
