“Why You Feel Behind (and the Secret to Feeling Free Again)”

If you’ve ever had that strange feeling that resembles jealousy, regret, or inferiority when you go on social media and see people—whether you know them or not—living the life you wish you had…

If you’ve ever stayed up at night wondering what you’ve done with your life, feeling like maybe you’re just wasting it…

If you feel like you’re behind in your achievements—especially because you’re comparing your life to others—please know you’re not alone. And those feelings of jealousy? They’re valid. They don’t make you a bad person. They just make you human.

In this newsletter, I’m going to share a mindset to help you get out of your head and start enjoying your life—right where you are, with what you have.

You are perfection just as you are, until you get to the next stage of your life—which is mostly a bonus.

If you take nothing else from this, remember this:

In the journey of life, no human is inferior to another.

Believing that you are inferior or behind assumes that everyone on earth is on the same journey, with the same starting point and the same destination. And I promise you, nothing could be farther from the truth.

Humans all over the world are only similar in that we all have desires and challenges. That’s it. The rest is unique to each of us. The details? The stories? The timelines?
They’re all different.

Our challenges and desires are shaped by our individual situations and stages in life.

Where one man who walks everywhere dreams of owning a car to get him from A to B, another man—who’s already wealthy—may be dreaming of a private jet. And both would feel ecstatic if their desires were granted.

At the end of the day, we all enjoy the beauty of the sky and the sea, and we all suffer the pain of sickness and death.

The mistake we often make is assuming there’s an “ideal” state of life.

When we see someone living la vida loca on a yacht on Instagram, we assume that must be the ultimate version of the good life.

And what happens next?

We begin to aspire to that Instagram life, and everything else we have going for us starts to feel less than.

I’ll tell you this for free: there is no one ideal state. Only you can define what the good life looks like for you.

While others want to travel the world, you might just want to chill outside on a warm summer evening, grilling with family and friends, laughing and playing games.

For me, I feel like I’m living the good life when I’m watching a comedy on Netflix with my husband and our favorite tub of ice cream. And I’ve caught myself saying out loud, “This must be what heaven feels like.” Imagine that—what feels like heaven to me costs only $30.

That’s why it’s so important to embrace your unique journey and discover what truly makes your life feel rich.

I challenge you today to create your little dose of heaven using what you already have and who you already have in your life.

Think about how many times we’ve seen people with seemingly perfect lives—by society’s standards—come out and admit they’ve been struggling with depression.

Then contrast that with a visit to an orphanage in a third-world country, where kids have so little but are full of joy and laughter.

The truth is, no matter where we are in life, we will always want something.

That’s why billionaires like Elon Musk still want more money, powerful people want more power, and the most beautiful women still strive for more beauty.

If we’re not careful, we’ll spend our entire lives chasing something—trying to reach an “ideal” that doesn’t exist. The chase never ends.

The real secret to winning at life is cultivating contentment in your heart, regardless of where you are, what you own, or even what misfortune you face.

That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t aspire for more—but it does mean you should make it a habit to count your blessings and live in gratitude.

You might be surprised to realize that many of the “mundane” things you take for granted—like good health and a loving family—are not so common after all.

Your winning chip every single time is your perspective.

When you focus your energy on the things that truly serve you, everything else in your life starts to align.

You have the power to build a beautiful reality—from the inside out.“Why You Feel Behind (and the Secret to Feeling Free Again)”
